The CATS Awards
The 2026 Critics’ Awards for Theatre in Scotland has been announced.
Mark Melville was nominated for Best Sound Design and Composition, for his work on What I’m Here For (Vanishing Point/Teater Katapult/ Tron Theatre).
Windblown (Raw Materials) was nominated for Best Music and Sound, with Composition and Sound Design by Pippa Murphy. The production was also composed by Karine Polwart, and piano by David Milligan.
Windblown was also nominated for Best Design, with Lighting Design by Lizzie Powell. The wider creative team includes Neil Haynes, (set design), Jamie Wardrop (AV design), and Vicki Brown (costume).
Beauty and the Beast (Citizens Theatre) and Cinderella (A Fairy Tale) (Lyceum Edinburgh) were both nominated for
Best Production for Children and Young People. With Lighting Design by Lizzie Powell and Direction by Jemima Levick respectively.
Windblown was also nominated for Best New Play.
The High Life (National Theatre of Scotland/Dundee Rep) and Waiting for Godot (Citizens Theatre) were nominated for Best Production. With Set and Costume Design by Colin Richmond, and Lighting Design by Lizzie Powell respectively.
